Perlane & Restylane

Restylane is a derivative of hyaluronic acid that comes in a clear gel formulation and is injected underneath or into the skin to restore volume for the depressed parts of a patient’s features, or to alleviate the appearance of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles.

Because it is made up of a highly biocompatible hyaluronic acid base, the incidences of adverse reaction with Restylane are very minimal, making it an ideal choice for our patients. It acts very much like the body’s naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, instantly hydrating the affected areas to visibly smooth out facial folds, nasolabial folds, wrinkles around the patient’s mouth, and marionette lines, and add definition and fullness to the indicated areas.

We use it under the eyes and the corners of the mouth.

Perlane is an FDA-approved dermal filler for implantation into the skin for the correction of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds. We mainly use it to lift the cheeks.

Perlane differs from Restylane primarily in the size of the particles and the depth of the required injection. Perlane is used for deeper wrinkles than Restylane.

Perlane is comprised of biotechnologically engineered, non-immunogenic, stabilized hyaluronic acid gel particles. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in all living organisms and provides volume and fullness to the skin. The three-dimensional gel particles in Perlane are hydrophilic molecules, attracting and binding to water molecules as they degrade, helping to maintain volume augmentation for about six months.

Perlane is used to smooth moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles such as the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds).
