Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures in Glendale, Irvine, Beverly Hills & Encino

In addition to offering comprehensive vein treatment to patients living in Southern California, Aluna Vein Centers also provides several non-surgical cosmetic procedures so we can meet our patients’ aesthetics needs.

It is well known that the aging process is not kind to the skin. Over time and with factors like stress and exposure to the elements, the face can develop fine lines and deep creases, which are changes that can lead you to looking older than you. Fortunately, non-surgical cosmetic procedures like Perlane and Restylane are available to offer a safe and effective way to turn back the hands of time.

Dr. Massoudi often provides Perlane & Restylane treatments to his patients who wish to achieve a more youthful appearance. Both of these products are hyaluronic acid fillers made by the same company but they differ in how they’re used.

Perlane is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler used to treat deep facial lines, folds, and creases and to improve the fullness of the cheeks. Unlike its relative product, Restylane, Perlane is designed to treat more severe wrinkles and facial folds including those found on the sides of the mouth.

The three-dimensional gel particles in Perlane are hydrophilic molecules which attract and bind to water molecules as they degrade. This helps maintain volume augmentation for approximately six months. What that means is that once you’ve had Perlane injected, you can enjoy your more youthful looking appearance for up six months, before returning to see Dr. Massoudi for a subsequent Perlane treatment.

Restylane is an injectable filler that is designed to fill out facial wrinkles to provide volume and fullness to the face. It is a clear, liquid gel made of hyaluronic acid that provides the skin with fullness and elasticity. Because it’s made up of a highly biocompatible hyaluronic acid base, the incidences of adverse reactions with Restylane are very minimal, making it an ideal choice for anyone who wishes to improve their appearance.

Restylane acts very much like the body’s naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid, providing instant hydrating effects to the skin for smoothing out facial and nasolabial folds, wrinkles around the mouth, and marionette lines to add definition and fullness to the areas being treated. Dr. Massoudi uses Restylane under the eyes and at the corners of the mouth.

After the initial Restylane treatment, follow-up treatments are normally recommended every six to twelve months, depending on the individual and the treatment received. A treatment of the lips lasts about six months.

How Perlane & Restylane Differ

While both Perlane & Restylane contain hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in all living organisms, there are clear differences between these two injectable fillers. The main difference is that the hyaluronic acid gel particles found in Perlane are larger than those in Restylane, requiring deeper injections. This gives Perlane more power to lift and fill areas that patients want to improve. Dr. Massoudi spends time speaking with each patient to determine which filler treatment is best for them.
