If you have ‘tattoo regret’, we can help you get rid of that unwanted body ink with our state-of-the-art tattoo removal treatment!

What to Expect

Dr. Massoudi can remove tattoos at a faster rate than ever before, using picosecond laser technology which is considered the ‘gold standard’ in tattoo removal. This incredible laser removal method is the most advanced way to completely clear away tattoos very quickly and efficiently, in a manner that’s never before been possible!

When you visit Dr. Massoudi for a laser picosecond tattoo removal procedure, you can expect the following to happen:
  • A cooling, local anesthetic or a numbing solution may be applied to the area to minimize discomfort.
  • Dr. Massoudi will direct pulses of laser energy at the tattoo, to target the ink and break it down into smaller particles. Your body’s own natural processes will then eliminate these particles, resulting in the ink becoming lighter.
  • You will receive treatments every four to eight weeks and be told how long you must wait in between appointments, based on the progress made and your skin type.
After your procedure, the treated area may swell a bit and turn red. These aftercare symptoms should disappear in just a few hours. Between treatments, you will be told to cover the treated area and to keep it out of the sun.

Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about the laser tattoo removal treatment we offer to help you decide if this treatment is right for you.

How exactly does the laser work to erase my ink?

Dr. Massoudi will direct ultra-short pulses of laser energy at your tattoo to break up the ink into tiny dust-like particles. These particles will be naturally eliminated by your body, resulting in the tattoo ink becoming lighter. These short pulses of laser energy are measured in picoseconds (one picosecond is one trillionth of a second), hence the name.

How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?

The number of laser treatments needed for complete tattoo removal depends on many factors including:

  • The type of ink used to create the tattoo
  • The color of the ink
  • The size of the tattoo
  • Where the tattoo is located on your body

During your consultation with Dr. Massoudi, you will be told how many treatments you will need to achieve the best results.

How often will I need to visit Dr. Massoudi for subsequent treatments?

While it usually takes the body between four and six weeks to absorb the ink particles, every patient and tattoo respond differently to the treatment. But on average, picosecond laser technology typically cuts the required number of follow-up visits in half, when compared to nanosecond technology, with a six to eight week period between each treatment. This gives your body the time it needs to clear away the ink particles before the next treatment. Typically, tattoos can be completely removed in three to five treatment sessions.

Can I have just one part of my tattoo removed?

Yes. Dr. Massoudi can target just the portions of the tattoo you wish to remove.

How much does it cost to remove my tattoos with picosecond tattoo technology?

The exact cost of your tattoo removal will depend on several factors like the size of your tattoo and the number of required treatments. After your consultation with Dr. Massoudi, we will provide you with a cost estimate for the series of treatments you will need.

Can I have my tattoo lightened so I can have a new tattoo placed on the same area?

Yes, Dr. Massoudi can lighten your tattoo so you can later have another tattoo placed on top of the same area. We recommend that you wait six weeks after your last tattoo removal treatment before having a new tattoo put on the same area.

Is it painful to have a tattoo removed?

The procedure is a bit more uncomfortable than getting a tattoo. However, the treatment is very fast, with most treatments only taking a few minutes to complete. We will provide you with the best pain management option based on your individual case to make you as comfortable as possible.

How will my skin react to the treatment?

You can expect to have some blistering and scabbing of the areas after your tattoo removal treatment. We will tell you to keep the area covered with a healing ointment and gauze to promote healing and prevent scarring.

Will my insurance cover the cost of laser tattoo removal?

Most insurance companies do not cover laser tattoo removal as it is considered an elective cosmetic procedure.
